MUIR WOODS / SAUSALITO AND ALCATRAZ TOUR
Be sure to add a trip to Alcatraz, once the site of a former maximum-security penitentiary and now one of San Francisco’s most popular tourist attractions. A short ferry ride from Fisherman’s Wharf, you will have the opportunity to talk with national Park Service Rangers about the island’s history, watch a short slide show and take an audio walking tour of the cellblock which is included (estimated time is 2-21/2 hours). Lean the incredible history of the island and about its most infamous inmates such as the “Birdman” Robert Stroud or Al “Scarface” Capone. The legendary “Rock” features some of the most spectacular photo opportunities.
It is advisable to wear comfortable walking shoes and a jacket for the Alcatraz trip. Alcatraz Cruises provide Alcatraz ferry service to and from the island.
Venture north over the Golden Gate Bridge to an isolated canyon filled with ancient coastal redwood trees, also known as Muir Woods National Monument. Enjoy solitude and peace as you stroll through 1000-year-old trees towering 260 feet tall. During this portion of the tour, enjoy such sights as:
· Coastal Redwoods · Marin County · Black-tailed Deer
· Golden Gate Bridge · Mount Tamalpais · Stellar Jays
Next, we travel to Sausalito , a Mediterranean-like village harbored across the San Francisco Bay , famous for its sweeping views and timeless sophistication. This hidden gem allows you to discover:
